Marana Crossroads Fine Art Festival
Saturday, September 25, 2010Sunday, September 26, 2010
Marana has finally completed its latest creation and new addition to the Parks and Recreation family. The Crossroads
at Silverbell District Park, located at 7458 N. Silverbell Rd., just south of the Walgreen's sharing the Wheeler Taft Abbett,
Sr. Branch Library complex.
This park holds more to do, for the outdoor fitness craver, than just a grassy knoll on which to exercise. Though, to
not discount the grass, it is perfect for Yoga and stretching, or MMA training, of sorts. It will also peak the interest of
the curious historian, within.
Among the amenities of the park, there are 2 Ramada's, a festival/performance area, concessions, and restrooms.
The historical sites are quite an amazing view, for a rest in between sets. The Bojorquez-Aguirre Ranch site circa
1870-1910, has a few features laden within the fenced areas; a foundation to a farmhouse, a cistern and an adobe
bunkhouse. To the south of the park boundaries, is the all natural Yuma Wash site, where a number of prehistoric
Hohokam features are located, to include 2 human remains and numerous pithouses.
